Park County Fire Protection Districts
Platte Canyon FPD
Serving Bailey and the 285 corridor since 1947, covering 271 square miles with career firefighter/medics, volunteers, and a dedicated wildland fire crew.
Elk Creek FPD
Protecting Conifer, Aspen Park, Pine Junction, and eastern Park County since 1948, with a nationally-certified Type 2 wildland fire module.
Hartsel FPD
Covering 750 square miles of South Park since 1956, one of the largest service areas of any district in the county.
Southern Park County FPD
Based in Guffey, protecting 240+ square miles of Park County’s sparsely populated high country since 1997.
Northwest FPD
Serving Fairplay and Alma at over 9,500 feet — home to one of the highest operational fire stations in North America.
Jefferson/Como FPD
A 525-square-mile district established in 1960, with career staff on duty daily and trained volunteers backing up fire and medical response countywide.
Lake George FPD
A volunteer-powered department protecting the Lake George area and surrounding wilderness, working alongside neighboring districts on regional wildfire response.

Allied Organizations
CUSP (Coalition for the Upper South Platte)
Since 1998, CUSP has protected the 1.6-million-acre Upper South Platte watershed and led post-fire ecological restoration across the region — work that directly supports Park County’s long-term wildfire resilience.
Park County Emergency Management
The county’s lead agency for large-scale emergency preparedness, response, and public education — FAPCo’s direct line into countywide alerts and coordinated response planning.
Team Rubicon
Veteran-led disaster response teams who partner with FAPCo each season to conduct Home Ignition Zone assessments and larger-scale mitigation projects across the county.
