Alerts
Posting an Alert
Alerts are for burn bans, prescribed burns, and smoke advisories — anything urgent that also gets emailed to subscribers.
Publishing does not automatically email anyone. Sending the email is a separate, deliberate second step — see below.
After you’ve published the alert, a new Alert Email box appears on that same screen with two buttons:
Send Test to Myself — sends the alert only to your own email address, so you can check how it looks before it goes out to everyone. Always worth doing this first.
Send Alert Email — sends it to every subscriber on the list.
Right after you click either button, the box will show you an immediate on-screen result (confirming it was received, or showing an error).
Delivery is not instant. Emails go out gradually over several hours to avoid overloading the system — a full send to the whole list can take up to half a day to finish reaching everyone. This is normal, not a sign anything’s wrong.
Once a send is underway, a Check Send Progress button appears in that same box. Click it any time to see how many people have received the email so far. It only updates when you click it — it won’t refresh on its own.
News & Announcements
Posting a News & Announcements Item
Use this for general updates — grants received, program milestones, organizational news. This does not get emailed; it only appears on the News & Announcements page (and the homepage’s news card, if it’s the most recent item).
Events
Posting an Event
Use this for board meetings, trainings, community events, volunteer days, and fundraisers.
Member Portal
Managing Members
The Member Portal (fireadaptedparkcounty.org/about/membership) lets Park County residents register as FAPC Members. There’s no dues and no approval step — anyone who registers becomes a member right away. As a board member, you have two things you can manage here: Zoom links on board meetings, and member accounts themselves.
Members who log in see a Next Board Meeting card on the Member Portal page. If you’d like it to include a Zoom link, add it directly on the event.
The Zoom link only shows to logged-in members on the Member Portal page — it never appears on the public Events page. Leave the field blank for any meeting that shouldn’t have a Zoom option.
Member Announcements appear only to logged-in members on the Member Portal page. This uses the same News & Announcements screen covered above — just check the Members Only box when you publish. See Posting a News & Announcements Item above for the full steps.
If a member’s contact info needs correcting, or an account needs to be removed, you can manage this directly.
You can only edit or delete FAPC Member accounts — board and admin accounts are not accessible here. This is intentional, as a safeguard.

Quick Tips
Not sure about something? Save as a Draft instead of Publishing. Click Save Draft in the Publish box rather than the blue Publish button — it won’t appear on the live site until you come back and publish it, so it’s a safe way to leave something for review.
Always test an Alert email to yourself first. It’s a one-click way to catch typos or formatting issues before the real send goes out.
Deleting/editing after publishing: you can go back into any published item, make changes, and update it — the site will reflect the new version.
